Reflection on the week 8 seminar:
Lecture:
On Monday the 20th of March 2018, the lecture session that has been taught by Bilal Haider, has covered an important topic that was about Business Models in Digital World. attending the lecture has given to all students the chance to understand the topic. As "Bilal Haider" has explained the major aspect of it such as Business Processes and routine, Features of an organization, Is impact on the organization as well as we looked at the most important part of it which was about Mintzberg's 5 types of organizational structure.
1.Entrepreneurial (simple): forward-thinking and enthusiasm but the limited structure, discipline, inefficiency and controlling management.
2.Machine bureaucracy: structure, consistency, and longevity but limited openness to new perspectives and inefficiencies.
3. Divisional bureaucracy: large corporations with division/ business and centralized control.
4.Professional bureaucracy: competent skilled knowledge workers, decentralized decision making.
5. Adhocracy (innovative): lack of formal structure that allows effective vertical and horizontal sharing of authority based on skills and competence
furthermore, as mentioned in the lecture we looked at different organizational level: Managerial level, operational level, and executive level. This 3 types of organizational structure have summed it up by understanding that every section inside an organization has its own duties in order to perform them by following the policies and structures.
Group work:
On the 25th of March 2018 as a group, we had met and went to the business premises to do the interview and gather as much information as we could. once we have reached there we were well accommodated by the manager as well as he took us to his personal office, my role contribution was taking notes to the point that were emphasized and mentioned quiet interestingly by the manager so we could work on them as our problems and solutions for the assignment, while others were doing different things, for example, Hamid as a group leader was asking questions and Abby was discussing with them, while Serien was recording it as evidence.
